It's been a week since I wrapped up M.L. Godwyn's incredible book, Death of a Mortal, and I am bursting with excitement to share my full review! I'm determined to keep this spoiler-free because the book hasn't hit the shelves yet, and I want everyone to dive into it as eagerly as I did once it's published.

The story centers around a woman named Naci, whose troubled upbringing will strike a chord with so many readers. I truly felt the heartache and pain she experienced for her family.

(Wow, it's tough not to spill the beans!)

Alright, let me just express how this book made me feel.

Naci is a character I connected with on a profound level. Life threw so much at her, yet her love for her sister was her guiding light through it all.

This story is packed with unexpected twists, thrilling adventures, and delightful surprises, all wrapped up in wonderful writing. Honestly, I couldn't even tell it was a beta book, and I've read quite a few of those.

I vividly remember thinking this was the first story in ages where my predictions were completely off. It was such a joy to be proven wrong! I found myself staying up late, eyes glued to my phone, reading it on Google Docs.

Recently, books from a certain author (initials SJM) have left me unimpressed. The overwhelming fanbase can be intense, and there are countless lesser-known authors who craft stunning series that truly outshine her work. It breaks my heart they don't receive the recognition they deserve, and this book is a shining example of that.

This story has it all: spice, love, romance, heartbreak, devastation, enemies to lovers, broody men, and fun friends. But what really stood out to me was its raw authenticity. When something truly devastating happens to Naci, the book doesn't gloss over it with a quick fix. Naci breaks down, screams, goes a little hysterical, and falls into depression—real emotions anyone would feel. Yes, she has her badass moment later, but in that raw moment, the book doesn't force her to just shake it off like so many others do, and that resonated with me deeply.

Overall, I give this a million stars out of 5! I highly recommend following her on social media. I have a video of her on my TikTok with her username, but you can also search her name on TikTok to find her. As soon as the book is available, I'll link it from Amazon or wherever she decides to sell it. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have!
